Coconut Processing
Project overview
A coconut processing facility needed an efficient cooling solution to preserve product quality and prevent spoilage.
Thermax implemented steam-fired absorption chillers that used waste steam to generate chilled water for process cooling. This approach ensured consistent cooling while reducing energy consumption and improving overall operational efficiency.
Challenges
- A coconut processing facility urgently needed to cool extracted coconut water to prevent spoilage and ensure product quality.
Solution
- Thermax provided a sustainable solution by commissioning 3 x 500 TR steam-fired absorption chillers that utilise waste steam from the facility to generate chilled water for process cooling.
Result
- The plant achieved significant operational and energy savings, reducing energy consumption by up to 1.5 MW per hour while maintaining the freshness and quality of the coconut water.
