Thermax has always believed in the philosophy – “Business cannot succeed in a society that fails.” Guided by this principle, the company remains deeply committed to the well-being and progress of the communities around it and supports migrant and informal workers in accessing government entitlements and welfare schemes.
To institutionalise its social initiatives, Thermax established Thermax Social Initiative Foundation as a Section 25 Company (under the erstwhile Companies Act, 1956) in 2007 to implement its CSR programme. In 2015-16, it was renamed Thermax Foundation (TF) and continues to be the primary implementing agency for the Thermax Group.
Thermax’s CSR efforts focus primarily on education for economically underprivileged children, recognising education as a powerful driver of long-term social transformation. In addition, the company works towards addressing the issue of social discrimination through affirmative action, while promoting skill development and employability initiatives.
The foundation’s core mission is to bridge the educational divide, break the cycle of poverty, and build a brighter future via targeted CSR initiatives.

Thermax Foundation Projects
The School Project – Enabling Access to Quality Education
The Thermax Foundation (TF) supports Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) schools run by the Akanksha Foundation. This initiative provides students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds with access to quality holistic education. It encompasses academic excellence, participation in extra-curricular and sporting activities, and a strong emphasis on the socio-emotional well-being of every student.
The project has a strong focus on academic outcomes, parental engagement, and youth development.
Alumni Project - Supporting Higher Education and Careers
iTeach Alumni Support Wing (ASW)
Thermax Foundation supports the iTeach Alumni Support Wing (ASW), an initiative that empowers students beyond school by enabling a smooth transition into higher education and employment. The programme focuses on continuous engagement with alumni through structured peer-learning sessions, community circles, and personalised counselling support for students who may be at higher risk of dropping out.
The initiative also equips students with essential life skills, career guidance, and internship opportunities, helping them build confidence and prepare for future professional pathways.
CSR Near Factory Locations – Enabling Inclusive Growth on the Ground
Thermax Foundation works with communities around Thermax’s factory locations to support their development and well-being. In collaboration with NGO partners, the Foundation runs a range of initiatives such as skill-building programmes for youth, student mentoring for higher education, and community facilitation support to help migrant workers access opportunities and government benefits. These efforts focus on creating sustainable livelihoods and improving access to education for local communities.
Skill Building Initiatives
Thermax Foundation has partnered with Manavseva for its skill-building programme in collaboration with Industrial Training Institutes (it is) that prepare youth for industry-related roles such as electricians, welders, fitters, and data entry operators. These programmes aim to improve employability and create sustainable career opportunities for the youth.
Supporting Aspirations in STEM Education
Thermax Foundation, in partnership with Avanti Fellows, provides IIT-JEE and NEET entrance preparation for deserving students from underprivileged backgrounds studying in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs). Through this initiative, the foundation supports students in grades 11 and 12 by providing mentoring and academic support to help them pursue higher education in engineering and medicine disciplines.
Scholarship Support for Higher Education
Thermax Foundation has collaborated with Roshni Foundation to help students from underserved backgrounds access scholarships for higher education. The initiative supports students in identifying suitable scholarship opportunities, completing application processes, and fulfilling required documentation. In addition, students benefit from capacity-building workshops, mentoring, and leadership sessions that strengthen their academic and personal development.
Empowering Farmers Through Sustainable Agriculture
Near our Solapur factory, Thermax Foundation supports Manavlok in strengthening the livelihoods of small and marginal farmers through the Horti-Max Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO). The initiative focuses on building farmers’ capacity to practice sustainable and scientific agriculture in water-deficient regions. Through collective farming and mechanised cultivation, farmers are supported with improved production methods, better market access, and streamlined systems for processing and sales.
Worker/Community Facilitation Centres (WFC)
Thermax, in association with its NGO partners, has established worker/ community facilitation centres (WFCs/CFCs) to help workers and community members access government welfare schemes and essential services. Through these centres, beneficiaries receive guidance and support in applying for entitlements such as e-Shram labour cards, widow pensions, and other social security benefits.
The WFCs/CFCs are located across Thermax’s factory locations and project sites, including Pune, Maharashtra; Savli, Gujarat; Sahibabad, New Delhi; and Sirohi, Rajasthan, enabling the Foundation to reach communities that may otherwise have limited access to such services.

CSR Initiatives
At Thermax, community service is a deeply embedded value. In collaboration with credible NGO partners, Thermax Foundation supports programmes that promote community well-being, education, health, environmental responsibility, and digital awareness. Employee volunteers engage in activities such as cleanliness drives, awareness sessions for students, healthcare outreach programmes, and support for local schools through learning materials and basic infrastructure improvements.
The foundation also undertakes initiatives that enhance community safety and sustainability, reflecting Thermax’s continued commitment to responsible citizenship and community development.
