Chemical
Project overview
A chemical manufacturing facility in Thailand sought an energy-efficient cooling solution to maintain low temperatures for critical processing while reducing electricity consumption and emissions.
Thermax delivered a heat-driven absorption chiller that utilised waste heat, enabling efficient cooling with lower energy use. The solution improved sustainability while ensuring reliable process performance.
Challenges
- A chemical manufacturing company in Thailand required an energy-efficient cooling solution to maintain nitrogen at 5°C for its polycarbonate diol processing operations, integral to fertiliser and nylon production. The customer also aimed to reduce electricity usage and carbon emissions.
Solution
- Thermax supplied a 60 TR low-temperature hot water-driven vapour absorption chiller, powered by steam condensate and process heat recovery. This was the first export order from Thermax’s new Sri City facility.
Result
- The system saves 200,000 electricity units annually and cuts emissions equivalent to planting 19,200 trees, significantly enhancing sustainability and operational efficiency.
