WHRB in Carbon Black Plant

WHRB in Carbon Black Plant

TBWES' WHRBs capture the intense heat from the reactor off-gas in a carbon black plant, turning a wasted byproduct into useful, high-pressure steam

Submit your enquiry

The carbon black manufacturing process releases hot tail gases rich in thermal energy.

Our WHRBs are installed to recover this heat and produce steam for process use or electricity generation. These systems enhance overall plant efficiency, reduce emissions, lower operating costs and contribute to sustainable operations, making them a crucial component of energy optimisation in carbon black production facilities.

Product features

NOx reduction methodology
A combination of low NOx burners, air and fuel staging, and flue gas recirculation (FGR) minimises NOx formation, with SNCR and SCR DeNOx systems implemented for further control to ensure compliance with emission norms
Externally fired combustion chamber
Ensures complete combustion of tail gases for efficient heat recovery
No auxiliary fuel required
Operates independently under normal conditions, reducing fuel costs
Radiant superheater design
Achieves rated superheat temperature across a wide turndown range
Feed water preheating
Maintains temperature above sulphuric acid dew point to prevent corrosion
Membrane panel side walls in convection section
Enables a refractory-less design for improved reliability and reduced maintenance
Boiler feed water pre-heater
Preheats water before the economiser to prevent tube corrosion
Plain tube economiser
Designed to avoid gas-side choking and ensure smooth heat transfer
Up to 520°C Up to 90 kg/cm²(g)
